FW: Notre Dame

We started today at Notre Dame. They were having Mass as we toured the interior perimeter and then took a self guided Rick Steves tour of the exterior. They have a hard reverent vs. open balace to stike here since services run while rude tourists are allowed to view the building by circling around the outside of the seated congregation. Something to ponder...

From there we went to the Cluny museum and saw lots of Medieval church art and stained glass. We had lunch at a crepery and enjoyed ice cream at the famous Bertillon ice cream shop on Ile St. Louie. From there we toured Victor Hugo's house, but Erica would't let me sing Les Mis tunes as we walked around.

We then went to the Pompidou center and checked out the modern art. We finished up the day by buying a bottle of wine (cheaper than water or gas in France) and some sandwich materials for dinner. We ate and played a Euchre card game in the court yard of our hotel.

Today was just practice for our visit to the biggest museum on earth tomorrow. Good to hear from eveyone who left comments! Go Cyclones!

Great blogging! You have made us all jealous that we are not there with you, tasting the boiled beef delicacies and pedaling drunk through Paris. We are so happy that you are having such a great time and soaking it all in. When in France, do as the Frenchmen (ride drunk???).

Jason - i have to think that Hugo would get a kick out of a little "Master of the House" while watching from his "Castle On A Cloud." Of course, his fellow Frenchmen might not appreciate it...

Erica - Can't wait to hear how your shoes are treating you on the romps through museums!

Jason and Erica, I'm so glad you are having a wonderful time! When I read your blog, I'm transported to Paris-the sites, the smells, the food, the atmosphere!

I won't bore everyone reading your blog with my questions but be prepared when you get back!!

I know the rest of your trip will be even more fabulous than your days in Paris!
